Perry County Corvette Club

PCCCHistory of the Perry County Corvette Club

In 1977, a group of 26 Corvette owners from Perry County and several adjacent counties began to hold monthly meetings to share their passion and enthusiasm for America’s true sports car, the Chevrolet Corvette.  From that modest beginning, the Perry County Corvette Club (PCCC) was born.  The PCCC was incorporated in the State of Pennsylvania on September 30, 1978, when it formed its constitution and by-laws.  During the early years the club was sponsored by Sheaffer-Weary Chevrolet in Loysville, PA, but in 1980 Regester Chevrolet in Thompsontown, PA assumed sponsorship and generously continues in that role to this day.  The PCCC is associated with the National Council of Corvette Clubs, Inc., and all but one our members belong to the NCCC.  We continue to meet monthly:  on the third Tuesday of the month, 7:30 pm at the American Legion in Newport .

Of the 26 charter members, four are active in the club today (2014).  Over the years PCCC has remained relatively small, with a current membership of 40 – but the first six generations of the classic American sports car are represented in the club.  Our members form a close-knit group, bonded by our love of Corvettes, and we thoroughly enjoy the social aspects of the club.

The PCCC is active throughout the year, whether we’re in our Corvettes or not.  We provide transportation for dignitaries and veterans in parades, particularly Memorial Day weekend and Veterans’ Day.  Summertime cruises in our ‘Vettes are a favorite with the club.  Members participate in various car shows, including our annual judged-and-fun show, held in early June at our sponsor’s dealership.  In early autumn we cruise to a scenic venue for our annual club picnic, and we wrap up each year with a Christmas party/awards dinner at a nice restaurant.  We are particularly proud that in 1980 our club was the NCCC East Regional Champion!  Additionally, several club members have placed in the Top 10 of the East Region in all types of competition events, as well as overall points.

The bottom line is that we are Corvette enthusiasts!  We enjoy the sheer joy of driving, and thrill to the sight of a string of shiny Corvettes together on the open road.
